This site sets a single cookie for you, and only once you sign in to your library. There is no advertising cookie, no third-party analytics cookie, and nothing here that follows you to another website.

  Keeps you signed in to your library so your downloads work after you sign in.

  Expires 30 days after you sign in, and is cleared the moment you sign out.

  Strictly necessary, first-party

• Admin session

  Set only when the publisher signs in to the admin area to manage the catalog. Nothing you do as a visitor sets it.

  Expires 12 hours after that sign-in.

• Stripe checkout cookies

  Set by Stripe on the checkout page only, to keep the payment form working and to detect fraudulent card use.

All of these are strictly necessary: without them you cannot stay signed in, the catalog cannot be managed, and payment cannot be taken safely. None of them is used for advertising, and none of them builds a profile of you.

Your cart lives in your own browser, in local storage, not on our servers and not in a cookie. It holds only what you added and what it costs, it is never sent anywhere until you start checkout, and clearing your browser data empties it.

One other small flag is kept the same way: if you dismiss the email sign-up prompt, that is remembered locally so it does not appear again. It contains nothing about you.

Page views are counted by a first-party beacon that stores nothing on your device. It records which page was viewed, what referred the visit, and a country-level location, then forgets you. No cookie is set, no device fingerprint is taken, and no persistent identifier is assigned, so one visit cannot be linked to the next or to a person.

There is nothing to opt out of because there is no profile to opt out of. What comes back is a count of how many people read a page, which is all that is needed to know which guides to write next.

Consent banners exist because of cookies that are not strictly necessary: advertising, retargeting, and third-party analytics. This site sets none of those, so there is nothing to ask your permission for. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent under the GDPR or the ePrivacy rules, and asking anyway would only train people to click past a box without reading it.

If that ever changes, the banner appears before the cookie does, not after. This page and its date will change with it.

Every browser can block or clear cookies, usually under privacy or site settings. Blocking the library session cookie means you will not be able to stay signed in to your library. The download links emailed to you at purchase are unaffected and will keep working.
